Winter Fishing
I hit the Spokane and Yakima Rivers over the holiday break. Fished the Spokane for about an hour and a half on 12/27 and managed a 14" rainbow on a San Juan Worm in a run where I've had success before. It was below freezing with plenty of snow on the bank.
Spent about 3 hours on the Yakima on 1/1 both nymphing and swinging in below freezing temps. No hits on the nymphs, so the second half of the outing, I switched to my sinking tip line and put on an Olive Seal Bugger. Had a hit and fought a fish for a few seconds, but it popped off. Near the end of my outing, I cranked a cast to the other side of the river and let a nice long swing drift across the river. On my first strip back after the line was completely down stream -- BLAM! A nice 'bow hit my Bugger like a ton of bricks. Had a decent fight and landed one of my bigger Yakima fish, a nice 20" buck. Only fish of the day landed, but definitely worth it!

'Till next time,
-J
