Rattlesnake Lake Update

I spent a couple hours this evening fly fishing from shore again around the south side of Rattlesnake Lake. The weather was a light to medium drizzle when I arrived. I started fishing where I caught the 12" yesterday. I stuck with the dry fly, knowing that they wouldn't be keying in on them as much with the rain dimpling the surface. I figured I'd experiment with the dry fly in less than optimal conditions. Even through the dimples on the water, I could still see a few rising here and there. I casted out to a few different areas. I had a little guy try to slap my fly, but the 4-incher missed it. I recasted. The rain let up for a few minutes and the water turned glass. There were a handful of folks on the lake, I could hear one person yelping on the hook-up. I peered carefully to the right to inspect another rise, when SIP! Set the hook and immediately knew this was a half-decent fish. Did quite a bit of head shaking and splashed the surface a bit. He was a stubborn trout and ripped about 15 feet of line. I tamed the trout not to long after that and he measured a nice 17" on the measure net. Nice! The catch was no more than 15 minutes from when I started, but the rest of the time I was on the lake, no more fish wanted my offering. The rain did stay at a fairly consistent medium drizzle for the rest of the time. I prospected almost all of the south shore until I could barely see. Only one this evening, but nice to get one on the larger size this time. Tight lines, Josh
